The European Technology & Innovation Platforms (ETIPs) have been created by the European Commission in the framework of the new Integrated Roadmap Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET Plan) by bringing together a multitude of stakeholders and experts from the energy sector.
The ETIP Smart Networks for Energy Transition (SNET) role is to guide Research, Development & Innovation (RD&I) to support Europe’s energy transition. More specifically, its mission is, among others, to set-out a vision for RD&I for Smart Networks for Energy Transition and engage stakeholders in this vision and to prepare and update the Strategic Research and Innovation Roadmap.
ETIP SNET periodically organizes regional workshops, which lately, due to their transformation into virtual events, have actually become a pan-European reference for the debate of topics related to grids.
The FlexPlan project was invited to participate in the 12th ETIP-SNET Regional Workshop, which took place on-line in the morning of 22nd June 2021. In particular, FlexPlan was briefly presented by its Project Coordinating Person Gianluigi Migliavacca during Parallel Session 2: Integrated Energy Networks – focus on storage.
After the presentation of FlexPlan and other few projects, Parallel Session 2 featured a debate on:
- regulatory barriers for storage development,
- type and size of technologies to support grid operation and planning,
- main functionalities that storage can cover
- role of Cost-Benefit Analysis and Life-Cycle Assessment.
During the debate, Gianluigi Migliavacca provided the viewpoint of FlexPlan on the above-mentioned issues.
Recordings will soon be available from the ETIP SNET web site (https://www.etip-snet.eu/regional-workshops/).
