BRIDGE (https://www.h2020-bridge.eu/) is a European Commission initiative which unites Horizon 2020 Smart Grid, Energy Storage, Islands, and Digitalisation Projects to create a structured view of cross-cutting issues which are encountered in the demonstration projects and may constitute an obstacle to innovation.
Among others, being in the BRIDGE initiative maximizes Horizon2020 projects visibility towards those directorates of the European Commission where the European regulation is elaborated, most notably DG-ENERGY.
Usually, only for big demo projects are included into the BRIDGE initiative because it is supposed they are those having the most results for regulation.
However, FlexPlan, yet not originating from a “BRIDGE” call, has important demonstrative contents (yet developed in simulation, as it is mandatory for a project concerning grid planning) and relevant regulatory implications.
Therefore, the Project Coordinator requested to be admitted and the Consortium was recently informed that the project was included into the BRIDGE initiative.
That will allow FlexPlan to find an adequate forum to highlight and debate its conclusions, with the aim to help fostering a higher degree of efficiency in the European electricity system and, ultimately, to bring an economic advantage to all European consumers.
